Identity theft is not so simple. When papers lie on a table, a few people can steal it; but when available online many people can "use" it in any part of the country to deny the legitimate holder.

The issue is the number itself. Its being used everywhere, so all a hacker has to do is to steal/buy data from multiple sources and then use common aadhaar number to merge the data together.

law is required quickly to make Adhaar as the mother and the only document for identity, But then theft of identity can be a real obstacle for its success.

I am living in North America where only Driver licence or ID ( those who do not drive ) is required for Bank or any offices.

I am living in Dubai. with Emirates ID, i don't even need Passport. But in India, people are crying for multiple proof of document, despite Latest technological Talent.

Good analysis. I agree we need to have one common all proof viz. Aadhar card which serves all documents requirement of any bank,. Regulator or any authority.
