India Railway has an epic journey chalked out.

The first journey begins on 14th Nov and within 15 days of its announcement, the tickets were sold out.

This magical journey is the Ramayan trail organized by the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). This is a 16-day tour, guided by IRCTC tour managers who will accompany the passengers on the 800-seater trains.

There are four trains leaving from Delhi, Jaipur, Rajkot and Madurai and will cover Ayodhya (the birthplace of Lord Ram) and will also go to other locations named in the Ramayan such as Hanuman Garhi, Ramkot, Nandigram, Sitamarhi (the birthplace of Sita), Janakpur (where Sita was raised), Varanasi, Prayag, Shringaverpur, Chitrakoot, Nasik, Hampi and Rameshwaram and the Kanak Bhawan temple.

The trains will either be called the Ramayana Yatra or Shri Ramayana Express.

All the trains will also have sleeper class coaches with room to accommodate 800 passengers. Those keen to cover the Sri Lanka-leg can chose to fly to Colombo from Chennai.

Presently IRCTC offers a Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train, a Bharat Darshan Train and a Maharaja’s Express.

Maybe a journey around the Mahabharat or India’s Freedom movement, covering all the historical sites across India. This is indeed a winner of an idea!

We only hope they keep the trains clean and secure.
