Khadi masks?

Another opportunity, thanks to the Covid and this one is also pretty heart warming.

We all think about khadi only around 2nd Oct but undeniably, it is one of the best and most sustainable cloth of our times and most of the khadi bhandars are just about surviving.

That’s why it was nice to see some marketing aggression from the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). The chairman of KVIC has written to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to place an order for 45 lakh khadi masks to be used during the elections in Bihar.

The ECI has already purchased 2,000 khadi masks. Prior to that, it has already sold 13 lakh face masks to Rashtrapati Bhavan, prime minister’s office, Indian Railways and several other PSUs. KVIC has also received an order for 10.5 lakh face masks from Indian Red Cross Society.

The khadi cotton masks are made of double twisted 100% cotton fabric and are double layered with three pleats. KVIC has converted its khadi stitching center at Nagrota near Jammu into a mask-making facility, making 10,000 masks per day. Rest of the orders are being fulfilled through self help groups and other khadi facilities across the country.

Now this is truly, completely Indian!
