A cab-pooling service
Now this is what we call a positive step ahead… and this is out of necessity. With 1st Jan soon approaching, Delhi is getting ready to tackle the ‘odd-even’ battle. And the good thing is, where we thought people might be shut to the very idea itself of car-pooling, there is a sliver of hope shining through.
Meru Cab, which runs on CNG, has launched a cab-pooling facility for Delhi and NCR. Customers now have the option of sharing their cab with another co-passenger who intends to travel in the same direction. This service from Meru is tagged as “Ride-Share”. How does it way in terms of pay? The customers will get a 30% discount on the estimated trip fare if Meru Cab is unable to locate the second passenger. And if there is a co-passenger, the fare will be shared.
Meru Cab plans to run it all through the year, make it a permanent feature and extend it to other cities across India. The only risk – would a lady passenger be comfortable to share space with a stranger man, given the horror stories we encounter nowadays?
