Addressing 'health"

The latest Coca Cola ad equates bonding over soft drinks with your loved ones as happiness. And the latest, it is addressing an issue which most soft drink companies run away from, obesity. Today people are more weight and fitness conscious than before, and soft drinks aka aerated drinks have always been associated with weight gain.

It is to lay rest to these growing concerns with soft drinks and weight gain, the rising obesity amongst the ‘fitness conscious’ world which has inspired Coca Cola with their latest campaign.  The two minute ad campaign is being aired during the highest rated TV shows on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC. The ad portrays that over the years, the company leads in providing drinks with fewer calories. The ad shows that weight gain is not just due to soft drinks and sodas but other food items too. In the ad, the narrator says that ‘obesity is an issue which concerns all of us and we can overcome it only if we come together.’

Later in the week, Coca Cola will air ads with the prime time US show, American Idol and before the upcoming Super Bowl Championship. This ad will not be serious, in nature but be its usual upbeat self showing a montage of activities that add up to burning off ’140 happy calories’ in a can of coke- walking a dog, laughing and dancing. Cheer up with Coke!
