Air India embarrassed?

Unless under duress, at least those in the know, having experienced the bad experiences of travelling with Air India, never fly Air India. Delays, poor service and security remain top issues and the airline seems to be doing little to change its image, even though its losses keep piling up. Seeing flights go half empty is nothing new.

And looks like the same attitude has percolated down when it comes to recruitment too. In earlier days, a job opening at Air India meant serpentine line of aspirants, waiting patiently for hours together to get their turn. Reflecting the changing times, at a recently held walk-in interview to hire commanders (captains) failed to attract even a single applicant! At the walk-in interview organized in Hyderabad, not a single aspirant turned up and this is probably for the first time ever that this has happened.

What is worse is that instead of getting in senior interview panelists only after shortlisting candidates online, Air India worked the other way –it got the panelists, lodged them into expensive 5-star hotels for two days not a single candidate turned up. Probably this is how mindlessly Air India works and it is paying a price for hat today.

Many said that Air India was deeply embarrassed by this. But Air India and embarrassed? Nah! Never! If it had that feeling, it would have improved long time ago.
