An executive assistant from IIM-B

A few weeks before their final placements, IIM Bangalore got a special request from one of their hiring companies and that created a virtual wild rush. The hiring company was none other than Reliance Industries and the request was to find a suitable student who could be hired as an Executive Assistant for Mukesh Ambani.

While Reliance has hired students earlier from the Institute, this is the first time that the Indian business mogul himself wants to mentor students and help them climb the rungs of the corporate ladder. Mukesh Ambani is also on the board of governors at IIM-Bangalore. The selected student will receive a competitive pay and be a part of RIL’s strategic development team to learn from the business leaders of the company. More than the pay, surely the experience of working with someone like Mukesh Ambani would be once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and such a placement on the resume would automatically mean that all doors in terms of career would open up.

The class strength is around 380 students but only 140 students have received placement offers till now.  The opportunity to work with Mukesh Ambani would be for one of these lucky and deserving students, and his or hers professional life will be made.  Maybe more such mentoring from other top notch industrialists could become the best way to nurture our future India Inc leaders.
