Bachchan's to make sona of Sony?
For all those avid TV viewers, there is some good news round the corner. Sony TV, which we all probably watch for only CID and Crime Patrol, is planning to go for a complete overhaul with a completely new of programs. And this is not small – we are talking about 10 new programs over the next 10 months.
Wanting to capture more eye balls, the channel has roped in Amitabh Bachchan – not just to anchor KBC but to actually act in a new show. Yes, the Big B will be seen as an actor, the main protagonist and the Creative Director for the show will be Anurag Kashyap. Bachchan’s company Saraswati Creations is co-producing this drama series. The details of the show, including the name remains a closely guarded secret but the promise is that this series will change the way India sees television and will open the doors for a new genre in television entertainment; exactly the way Bachchan transformed TV with KBC.
That’s not all. Even his wife, Jaya Bachchan will be seen in a TV Series on Sony. She is to play the lead character in this soap, titled Vasundhara is inspired by a Gujarati novel -Yog Viyog by Kaajal Oza Vaidya. The soap will be directed by Pankaj Parashar of ‘Karamchand’ series fame. Here, the story is about a woman, who when abandoned by husband, decides to take control of the house and her kids as the head of the house. A tale of relationships and the complications faced by a single parent makes the crux of the story.
Amitabah’s show is slated for launch around the first week of June and the network is expected to launch the trailers this week.
