Chicken for veggie Mukesh Ambani?

Who came first- Chicken or the egg? Well, for Mukesh Ambani, it would definitely be the chicken that came first. A strict vegetarian, Mukesh Ambani has taken the industry by surprise by buying a 45% equity stake in Two Sisters Foods India (TSFI), a UK-based company to run an exclusive chicken restaurant chain in India.

The chain aptly named ‘Chicken came first’ aims to compete with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and will start with supplying chilled and frozen foods at Reliance Fresh. Meanwhile, they are setting up a plant to process chicken, fish and meat products. Their chain of restaurants will customize its menu catering to the Indian taste buds.

Currently, in the global market, Quick service restaurants have an aggregated market share of 63% and with the trend of eating fast food only increasing, the annuals spent on eating out is bound to grow. With ‘Chicken came first’ Reliance aims to please the global taste buds.
