Demat account for Balaji!

We all know that Tirupati Balaji is the richest God in India and He gets gifts from his devotees in abundance – money apart, tonnes of jewellery, even human hair. He also gets hundreds of shares – people drop physical share certificates into the donation box as that is probably the only way one can gift Him shares. What the temple does with physical shares, one does not know.

So the temple has come out with a great way out – it has opened a demat account in the name of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. It has started its account in Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL) and the account number allotted to it is 1601010000384828. Thus all devotees wanting to donate shares to the Almighty, can do so to His demat account directly!

This is probably a first; nowhere in the world might there be a demat account in the name of a God but this happens only in India! The only God who will get dividends , bonus issues and stock splits too. One of the poor countries of the world and we have the richest God. Surely He Himself will be laughing at the irony of all this…
