Dior's Madurai connection
Christian Dior is globally synonymous to fashion. This French fashion house is known for its amazing, long lasting perfumes especially Dior’s J’adore. If you thought the fragrances of their perfumes are from somewhere in France, think again. The fragrances are imbibed from Tamil Nadu’s Madurai region, known for its Jasmine flowers.
The perfume creator Francois Demachy of Dior’s famous J’adore makes a visit to Madurai every year and uses jasmine sambac, tuberose along with other raw materials sourced from Tamil Nadu. It is not just for J’adore that the perfume creator makes an annual visit to India every year. The sambac, jasmine grandiflorum and tuberose are used for the tantalizing smells of J’adore Eau de Parfum, Poison, New Look and Escale a Pondichery.
The next time someone you know spends several thousand rupees on a bottle of International fragrance, remind them, the fragrances could be courtesy India!
