Dirty coach? Use the App!

Your railway coach is dirty and you simply cannot carry on with rest of the journey in that squalor? No need to fret. The Indian Railways has launched a new and valuable app – Clean My Coach. It is a mobile app and you can use this to immediately lodge an online complaint.

Available only on long distance trains, this online complaint will be booked in 15 minutes. You don’t have to write any long complaint – the app is already about cleaning your coach, so the message is apparent from the beginning. To register the complaint, you just enter the PNR number.

So once this complaint is lodged, an SMS with coach and berth details will be forwarded to a train attendant. Once the complaint is addressed, the attendant will ask for an acknowledgement of the services offered.

The objective of this app is pretty straight - prompt cleaning of toilets and coaches in long-distance trains that have housekeeping staff. But therein lay the crux – do the railways have the housekeeping staff? Based on past experience, the app might work just fine but getting the people to work to actually address the complaint; now that’s a huge challenge!
