Going veg, at least in pizzas!
The eternal battle between who is superior- the vegetarians or the non-vegetarians has no conclusive answers. While India has its ample share of non-vegetarians but when it comes to junk, fast food- vegetarians rule!
Dominos Pizza, which owns the largest slice of the Rs.2300 crore organized pizza market, has a 67% market share in India. And here, every seven out of ten pizzas sold is a vegetarian one. The same is the case with the second largest pizza seller in the country; Pizza Hut which has only 30% sales from non-vegetarians. In fact, since vegetarians are their biggest consumers, they constantly survey and update their menu to suit the local palatte. In Vadodara, Gujarat, after door-to-door surveys, they introduced a pizza with potato toppings.
Vegetarian pizzas are cheaper and clearly the preferred option by many in India. The second to pizzas come sandwiches, which too is clearly dominated by vegetarians. Vegetarians surely have the larger share in the fast food market. So all those who say that vegetarians are healthy eaters, any takers for that?
