Hitting where it hurts

How much more ironic can this get? Almost like giving cocking a snook at the conservative Saudi Arabian Kingdom. This happened a few months ago but is making news now.

The first ever all-female flight deck crew for Royal Brunei Airlines has operated a plane from Brunei to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Although it was a milestone for the airline, the pilot crew touched down in a country where women are still not allowed to drive a car. So an all-women operated airline, which had many male passengers, possibly many frown upon women driving a car or even working in offices.

In December 2014, Loujain al-Hathloul was detained after she tried to drive into Saudi Arabia from the United Arab Emirates. Maysa al-Amoudi, a friend who turned up to support her, was also detained. Both were released after more than 70 days in custody.

Wonder how the women, who actually touched down into the Kingdom felt about that? Surely a proud moment for these women and its high time, the Kingdom relooked at its back-in-the-stone age rules when it comes to freedom for women.
