It’s the last day of the year but considering, how unsafe and expensive India has become, who really is in a mood for bringing in the New Year? A few years ago, 31st December entitled to a good time with your friends, movie, dinner and what-not at affordable prices.

Now, well, if you want to bring in a nice time with your loved one or family, the per head cost at a decent 3 star hotel is no less than Rs.3000 and a similar experience at a 5 star hotel is no less than Rs.15,000 per head! Today it is a trend that if you attend a party graced by a celebrity, a New Years Bash wherein even average Bollywood starlets are performing; it is the ‘ultimate’ thing!  Since this New Year has no good movies to watch and if you are not into over-crowded discs and pubs; what would you do? Restaurants would be over-crowded; some would even go to the extent of charging an entrance fee. Roads would be choc-a-blocked, no matter what city you belong to.

And God Forbid, if you are a single woman in the city, do not even think about stepping out alone! The roads are not safe, the men are not safe, the country is not safe or so everyone says but who really can argue looking at the recent happenings? The best solution, however, to bring in the New Year- is well, be at home, host  a house party or simply, order from your favorite restaurant and enjoy a nice, candle light dinner at home. That’s cheap, safe and well, you welcome 2013 with the best people in your life. Happy New Year!
