If you are a NRI living in USA, the chances of eating authentic Indian dosa whenever your heart pleases are slim. Two Investment Bankers based in the States, however, want to change this and believe it is the beloved South Indian delicacy dosa that will help Indian cuisine enter the big league in the West.

The duo has tied up with Chennai based restauranteur M.Mahadevan, who promises to reinvent the dosa and make it more appealing for the Western palate. The first outlet of ‘Soho Tiffin’ as it is christened will be launched this Diwali selling dosa combos in form of wraps with fillings. The wrap will not be accompanied with the traditional sambar and chutney but with a variety of dips. Based on the success of this outlet, the duo will be investing $5 million for launching five more restaurants in New York over the next twelve months.

The Western Dosa priced at a comfortable $6-7 is sure to appeal to young collegians and professionals, their main target audiences. And yes, the former bankers hope to make ‘namba’ dosa’  a global dish!
