No takers!
Sholay. The movie is historical to say the least, a milestone of Hindi cinema. So much so that even thirty odd years after its release, Sholay is studied for its success. The movie was even tried to be remade but failed miserably. Hence, it was always assumed that anything related to the movie would always have a taker but IDBI Bank now feels it is not so.
IDBI Bank had bought a 40,000 square feet plot on Lamington Road, the same place where Minerva Theatre was housed and the movie Sholay ran house-full for five years. The plot has been nicknamed the ‘Pride of Maharashtra’ but despite several attempts, there are no buyers for the same. IDBI now has a due fo Rs. 84.8 crore but even an auction at Rs.61 crore is not getting them any takers.
Mumbai is an extremely crowded city wherein builders are always looking at a possible space to develop into a residential and commercial area. And, this plot located in the heart of South Mumbai seems like the perfect spot but its strange that even at Rs.60 crore, that too for a 40,000 square feet plot, it is struggling to find buyers. Looks like the wait for the history to be created once again continues…
