Proud moment for India coming
Mark 21st June on your calendar. This a proud day for India – the United Nations has declared this day as International Yoga Day. All credit to Mr.Modi for this, for brining yoga to the center stage where it deserves to be. 170 nations had supported Modi's proposal.
At the United Nations General Assembly in September’14, Modi had said, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us deal with climate change. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day."
And today, a new logo to mark this international yoga day was unveiled. In the logo, the folded hands symbolise yoga, the brown leaves symbolise the earth, the green leaves the nature, blue, fire, and the sun symbolises the source of energy and inspiration. The logo, approved by the AYUSH - the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy -- reflects harmony and peace which is the essence of yoga.
Kudos to yoga! Or rather 25 Sun salutations to yoga!!
