Ready for the Americanized Biryani?
It’s the oddest thing, really. You start off as something and gradually, with time expand way beyond what your ‘brand image’ expects you to be. Like KFC, acronym for Kentucky Fried Chicken is advertising its ‘veggie’ burgers with pride. Similarly, Costa Coffee, Café Coffee Day and Barista are serving pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and pastas with their coffees.
And the latest in this trend is Pizza Hut which has already won us with their completely Indianised menu and is now going a step further by offering us more than just pizzas. Pizza Hut is now Americanizing the Indian Biryani and serving its customers, a fusion meal of rice sandwiched between two tandoori rotis called Birizza.
While it is cheap, with a vegetarian Birizza costing Rs.99 and the non-vegetarian Birizza costing Rs.149; how many takers would be there for this fusion? Lets wait, take a bite and watch.
