We in India are arguing over an above 7% GDP growth for the fiscal gone by – will it be 7.2% or 7% or 7.3%? But in Brazil the Govt is sitting pretty.

Brazilian Govt has targeted a 0% GDP growth for this year (Jan-Dec’17) and still, the Govt and the economists are pretty happy about this. Why? Simply because a no-growth is better than a falling growth rate. Last two years, 2015 and 2016, growth was down in the negative and this year, if they are saying it is going to be 0%, obviously its good news! Though all sectors across the country have been hit, inflation for the first time in many years is seeing coming down. In fact next year, for 2018, the country is actually expecting a 1.5% GDP.

This is how it is in life too – those who have plenty do not appreciate the smaller things of life while those with nothing, find happiness in some of the most inane things of life. So happiness is ultimately all about what you have and how you perceive these possessions vis-à-vis times when you had nothing. Yes, it is important to always remember where we came from.
