Forty might be the new twenty in Bollywood but in the corporate world, forty might soon be considered ‘old.’ A shortage of experienced and mature professionals in several Indian companies has forced companies to take a decision – encourage young professionals for higher positions and undertaking ‘young’ businesses.

This trend is already evident and running successfully in several new-age Indian biggies.  Mittu Chandilya is 33 years old and heading AirAsia. 33 year old Avani Saglani is the CEO of Starbucks while 34 year old Nishant Rao is that of LinkedIn. Thanks to today’s sluggish market conditions, we are already facing a shortage of jobs. However, in many MNCs today, especially tech companies- executives in their 30’s continue to land corner office, high responsibility jobs.

While the older professionals have the edge of maturity and experience, the young turks today have a diverse profile, many possessing International degrees and are more creative and tuned to today’s market and industry demands.
