Tweet and FB for a job
Social networking is not just a tool to connect with people from across the world. Lately, it has also become a tool to select and shortlist possible future candidates for recruiters and companies across India.
It is not just 140 characters of Twitter or a regularly maintained blog post which employers are seeking. Companies are increasingly using social media websites such as Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Google Hangouts amongst others to find a larger talent pool. And why not? According to a February report of the Internet and Mobile Association of India, there are 80 million active Internet users in urban India and nearly 72% of them use some tool of social networking. These websites are also used by companies to spread awareness about job openings.
Today, social networking has become a medium to showcase one’s talents, their company’s talents more effectively. But yes, social networking has its disadvantages too. Any negative feedback about a company or person, any inappropriate comment and your future is in jeopardy.
