Who else but Jain Irrigation when it comes to water management? Thisncompany has literally transformed lives of millions of Indian farmers with its drip irrigation system. Power cuts and declining water tables all over the country have made the benefits of micro-irrigation apparent in various soil conditions.  The water management system pioneered by Jain is now being used in many other water-stressed states and has won global acclaim and innumerable awards.

The man behind Jain Irrigation, Bhavarlal Jain is a true visionary and his aim is to now set  up a university that will focus exclusively on water management, renewable energy and sustainable agriculture. Given the fact that water will become the scarcest commodity in the years to come, it is imperative for India Inc to also learn to manage water better and there are almost no colleges in India which teach you water management.  And Jain is now attempting to fill in this gap. Each of the subjects offered in the course is covered separately in different universities and colleges, but the university planned by Jain will inculcate knowledge on these subjects at one point through practical experience.

Yes, in the years to come, those with knowledge of water will become the most sought after, more than the computer engineers. Jain is confident that students passing out of this university would be most sought after given the shortage of quality talent in the agriculture sector. A great idea indeed and hope, we have more such colleges , more so in renewable energies too!
