When the going gets tough...
In the current chaotic situation of demonetization, it comes as a surprise to know that it was only Dena Bank which did some out-of-the-box thinking and came up with the innovative idea of providing mobile banking.
The Bank actually operated one mobile ATM van. This van went around the city, operating from 9am to 9pm. The ATM mobile van carries Rs 10 lakhs. Over 500 transactions can take place everyday. The bank is planning to launch one more mobile van which will be followed by other banks too.
Actually, some other banks have taken this cue – there is a mobile ATM van operating in Delhi and Canara Bank in Bengaluru. SBI too is introducing such vans in rural areas where banking facilities are not adequate or not available.
Indeed necessity is the mother of invention!
