Yuhin chalachal saathi....
We have heard about SUVs, CVs, MHVs but RVs? Well, adding to the car acronyms is Recreation Vehicles of RVs. What exactly are these RVs? Do you recollect seeing the movie Swades, where the hero, Shahrukh Khan, after coming from USA, uses a caravan to visit his village? Well, the same caravan, which many stars and politicians also use will soon become a product which we can also use.
In developed countries, it is a very common sight to see families holidaying in the caravan, parking in their allotted slots and driving around all over. And we might soon be able to do this here, in India too. Bhiwadi-based automobile accessory company, PCP Motors, has launched India’s first caravan brand—Terra Home Car. They are two boxy models complete with tiny bathroom, dining rooms and sleeping space for five. The caravans have air conditioning, a microwave, an LCD TV and a digital video player.
It does come with a hefty price tag of Rs.37 to 40 lakh. And yes, you can rent them out too – it would cost you Rs.12,000 to Rs.15,000 per day, which will also include a driver. This sounds like a very good idea and maybe most of us might not be able to afford it. But its good to know that tourism is finally maturing in India.
