Reliance Jio - Victim of Brand Ambassadress?

Reliance Jio has been pushed to number 2 slot by Airtel, in terms of new subscriber addition. In August 20, Airtel added 2.8 million subscriber, against 1.8 million by Jio. In September 20, Airtel added 3.78 million subscriber, against 1.46 million by Jio. In October 20, Airtel added 3.67 million subscriber, against 2.22 million by Jio. Industry experts are expecting same trend in November and December 2020 as well.

Marketing Guru is attributing the reason of Jio pushing to 2nd number is its Brand Ambassadress Deepika Padukone. Firstly, her name having involved in Drug use, has dented her image amongst youth and family oriented persons. Secondly, her movies released in last 5 years, either were handful or have failed miserably on Box Office, except Padmaavat released in 2018. Lastly, she is being seen as an unlucky brand Ambassadress of her products. Few of them are Lloyd Air Conditioner, Tetly Green Tea, Nestle Fruita Vitals, Axis Bank, Jaguar Lighting, Tanishq, Coca Cola, Vistara Airlines, Goibibo, Gillette Venus hair Removing Razors and Kellog, to name few of them.
