What does NIFTY BANK index comprise of?
Bank Index generally known as “NIFTY BANK”. It was launched by India Index Service & Products Ltd. (IISL) in the year 2000. It includes top 12 listed stocks from banking sectors out of all banking stocks listed on NSE. These stocks are most liquid and largest stocks from banking sector.
This index represents about 15.6% of the free float market capitalization of the stocks listed on NSE and 93.3% of the free float market capitalization of the stocks forming part of the Banking sector universe as on 31st March, 2016. This index provides investors and market intermediaries with a benchmark that captures the capital market performance of Indian Banks.
