The company did not end Q1Fy16 on a good note. Though consolidated net revenue rose 13% (YoY) at Rs.5904 crore, interest outgo of Rs.1493 crore, up 24% pushed the company into the red. PBIT of Rs.1076 crore, up 5%, after interest outgo, turned into a net loss of Rs.417 crore v/s loss of Rs.303 crore. EBITDA came in at Rs.1633 crore v/s Rs.1691 crore and this 3% fall was on account of higher compensatory tariff recognized and impact of demerger of Transmission business in the previous quarter.

During the quarter, the company sold 15.87 billion units v/s 13.43 billion units in Q1FY15. Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has become wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Power Limited during the quarter and it contributed Rs 225 crore to EBIDTA during the quarter and results were consolidated from 21st April, 2015.
