DCB BANK
This small size private sector bank did pretty well for Q3FY17, both on profitability front as well as asset quality. It posted a net profit of Rs.51 crore, up 25% (YoY) on a 31% increase in Net Interest Income at Rs.209 crore. NIM though dipped a bit from 3.96% from 3.95%.
In terms of asset quality, it has improved. Gross NPA was down at 1.55% v/s 1.75% (QoQ) while Net NPA too declined from 0.84 to 0.74%.
Deposits surged 34% (YoY) at Rs.18,840 crore. CAR was at 13.33% as at 31st Dec 2016.
Demonetization helped the Bank as it said in a TV interview that many clients, especially of SMEs repaid loans through old notes and this helped recoveries rise to Rs.641 crore. This might be a one-time effect and we need to see Q4 to understand the sustainability of this performance.
