Q1FY16 was the first quarter of Sasan UMPP’s of full operation and this in itself was expected to reflect positively in the performance. And it did! This ADAG company reported a consolidated 41% (YoY) jump in net profit at Rs.344 crore on a 58% rise in operating revenue at Rs.2768 crore. EBITDA for the quarter was at Rs.1170 crore, up 79%. Costs were up 48%, led by 152% rise in cost of operations, 27% rise in power and fuel cost, 95% surge in employee cost and 89% jump in depreciation.
Interest outgo for the quarter rose by a whopping 123% at Rs.576 crore. Its debt currently stands at over Rs.30,000 crore. Total operating capacity currently is at 6000 MW. Rosa power plant operated at 98.6% and plant load factor (PLF) was at 81.7%. Butibori plant operated at 102% availability and PLF was at 82.1%. The 40 MW solar plant at Rajasthan operated at 99.5% and the one in Maharashtra operated at 95%. The 100 MW concentrated solar power (CSP) project at Rajasthan has commenced power generation.
