RPG LIFESCIENCES

RPG Lifesciences, formerly known as Searle (India) is a pharma company producing a wide range of quality and affordable medicines in Global Generics and Synthetic API. The company posted a net profit of Rs.5 crore compared to loss of Rs.51 lakh in Q4FY14. Sequentially, the net profit has risen 68%. Net sales was up 21% at Rs.61 crore. Costs have risen 15% mainly on the back of a 13% jump in employee benefits, 10% rise in other expenses though raw material fell 9%.

For FY15, net profit came in at Rs.1 crore; though this is very small, it looks all the more small  when compared with the net profit of Rs.53 crore in FY14 which was partly on account of an exceptional income of Rs.64 crore arising out of sale of leasehold land and building.

The good news here is that promoters holding in Q4 has risen to 66.19% from 61.83% in Q3. Harsh Vardhan Goenka, one of the promoters of the company bought shares from the open through Nucleus Life Trust, where he is a Trustee.
