SML Isuzu was formed in 2010 from the Swaraj Mazda company after Mazda pulled out of the venture. The name ‘Swaraj’ was sold to Mahindra when the tractor division, Punjab Tractors was sold off. Today, it makes buses, tempos and trucks. Currently Sumitomo Corporation of Japan holds 43.96% and Isuzu Motors of Japan holds 15%.

The company for Q4FY16 posted a muted set of numbers. Net sales was flat at Rs.316 crore v/s Rs.319 crore in previous Q4. It was thanks to the lower costs that bottomline grew. Operating profit for the quarter was up 47% (YoY) at Rs.22 crore. Net profit came in at Rs.17 crore, v/s loss of Rs.93 lakh in Q3 and up 31% (YoY).

It ended FY16 with a 5% rise in net sales at Rs.1157 crore and net profit rose 38% at Rs.51 crore. Equity stands at Rs.14.48 crore and EPS is at Rs.35 (FV of Rs.10/share). Borrowings stood at Rs.55 crore and cash was at Rs.36 crore, down 59%.
