Bharti Airtel is currently amongst the top losers on the BSE, down over 3% at Rs.285, its current intra day low point. Its 52-week low stands at Rs.238.50. Volumes are pretty muted at 37,000 shares being traded today morning.
The stock is in the red after it was slapped with the much anticipated Rs.650 crore fine by the Telecom Minister, Mr.Kapil Sibal. The fine has been imposed for violating roaming norms in 13 service areas between 2003 and 2005. Bharti was allowing roaming subscribers to make and receive calls at local prices, which bypassed rules for national long-distance calls.
