Huhtamaki PPL, which was earlier known as Paper Products is not having a good run on the bourses today. The stock had slipped intra day almost 7% to Rs.250.25 and then recovered to now quote at Rs.257 levels, nevertheless down 4.5%.

The stock is down on account of its poor performance for first quarter ended 31st March 2016 (Dec year ending). On a very tepid total income of Rs.562 crore, down 1% (YoY), the company posted a 53% drop in net profit at Rs.16 crore.

Total expenses were up 3% but as a percentage of total income earned, it has gone up to 95% v/s 91% in previous quarter. And this, plus the weak topline took a toll on the bottomline. EBITDA came in 33% lower at Rs.53 crore while margins tell the true story – slipping from 15.1% to 10.3%.

Equity was at Rs.14.54 crore. EPS for the quarter came in at Rs.2.16 (FV of Rs.2). Huhtafeva BV of Netherlands holds 68.77%.
