Infosys down in the red

As though the ongoing concerns over H1B visa row in the USA were not enough, Infosys has got into more hot water today.

In what can be called as a major issue of concern, that too for a company like Infosys, is that founders - NR Narayana Murthy, Kris Gopalakrishnan and Nandan Nilekani have raised fresh worries over issues of corporate governance. They have raised questions specifically pertaining to the compensation given to CEO, Vishal Sikka and also the hefty severance packages given to former Chief Financial Officer Rajiv Bansal and General Counsel David Kennedy.

Sikka earns a salary of US$11 million of which $3 million is fixed and balance $8 million comes is variable, linked to his performance.

Those in the industry and some in the company say that these are all non issues when there are bigger concerns currently rocking the boat for the company. Infosys itself has said that these decisions were made after full disclosures and thus felt there was really no serious corporate governance issue here.
