LTIMindtree is very much the newsmaker this morning. The stock which had closed yesterday at Rs.5254.70, opened much higher today at Rs.5373.05 and went on to hit a new 52-week high at Rs.5425.

The stock price hit the roof after the news came out about an ad hoc, out-of-turn change to the index. Thanks to the merger of HDFC with HDFC Bank, it has been decided to replace HDFC with LTIMindtree on the benchmark Nifty50 Index.

The change is effective 13^th July.
