TD Power Systems , which makes AC generators  with an output capacity ranging from 1 MW to 200 MW is in the news today. The stock which has closed yesterday at Rs.341.10, opened higher today at Rs.365.10 and went on to an intra day high at Rs.382. It currently remains almost 9% higher at Rs.370 levels.

The stock is up after the company stated that it had received an order from a unit of Indian Railways – Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi. This order is for 10 traction alternators. However, the company did not disclose the value of the order.

These Traction alternators are mounted on EDM locomotives manufactured by DLW in India. The order is based on a provisional approval consequent to Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) capability audit of the company. After acceptance of the generators by DLW, TDPS stands to be eligible for significant orders especially with the massive capex plan that the Indian Railways announced in the recent Union budget.
