Vodafone Idea hit new low

Vodafone Idea hit a new 52-week low today at Rs.13.60 and remains in the red.

The company announced its earnings for Q4FY19 yesterday. Its consolidated net loss came in lower at Rs.4882 crore v/s Rs.5005 crore in Q3.

Its revenue was at Rs.11,775 crore v/s Rs.11,765 crore (QoQ) but looks like the synergy between the two merged entities is slowly settling and giving it an advantage as topline was more than Bharti’s Rs.10,632 crore and Jio’s Rs.11,106 crore.

During the quarter it added 5.4 million 4G users v/s 9.5 million (QoQ); its total 4G subscriber base is now at 80.7 million and Jio is way ahead at 306.70 million.

For Vodafone, the lower subscriber base helped improve the average revenue per user (ARPU) to Rs.104 v/s Rs.89 (QoQ). Jio’s ARPU stands at Rs.126.20.

The synergistic benefits might be coming in for Vodafone but the truth is that it continues to face stiff competition from Jio, putting pressure on pricing.
